The Gym Is Where Your Heart Pumps

It might surprise many when I suggest that you don’t go to a gym. Read closely, don’t GO to a gym. DO make a home gym where you can workout anytime you like. Gyms have their benefits. They own and maintain bulky equipment, they have trainers on-site, classes where you can sweat it out together. However, the benefits of having access to fitness equipment at home might fit into your lifestyle better. You don’t have to fuss with packing a change of clothes, you can put the drive time into the workout, no waiting for the elliptical or the 10 lb. bells, less self-consciousness, and more money in your pocket to put toward your own equipment.  Many people have a tight schedule and excess time to workout is valuable. Putting the fitness arena in the place you go everyday is probably going to be used more than if it’s across town from where you rarely want to go. ~trvw

To: You From: Me | The Beauty of Your Emotion

After reading another inspiring post by Seth Godin, Emotionally Attractive, hope had been delivered in a few short paragraphs. While physical characteristics are first to be impressed on people, the magnitude to which they are received is actually in our control. Our attitude really can convey pleasantries and help someone feel more at ease. When you make a positive impression on someone they will remember that, they will find you emotionally attractive and that probably ticks up your physical appeal at the same time – not the top priority but an added bonus. The best part is that when you’ve left a feeling of graciousness for someone else to experience, they will be better because of you. ~trvw

To: You From: Me | Move Through The Fog

Image result for free nature backgrounds fog

When you have a dream and the opportunity to go for it then it seems attainable. When your dreams seem vague or foggy it’s difficult to see opportunities that might lie ahead. This is when it is important to keep moving forward. It can be tempting to become stagnant. Thoughts of “why bother” might creep into your mind. Replace them with “I will figure this out” and keep trying things that you feel even a slight passion for. When you immerse yourself into various projects, eventually something will stick. Then you will have that craft to perfect. You will realize what you are built for in this world. Give the fog time to lift so you can see the bright sunshine. ~trvw

To: You From: Me | You Are A Blessing

A new day will begin and sometimes waking up can be rough. A list of things that have to be done might be spinning through your mind and you feel a day late and a dollar short. Take a deep breath and start taking action. The temptation to bury under the covers might tug at you but the sooner you start doing something the better you will feel. It might seem like you have no control over the day. Maybe people at work are telling you what needs to be done and how to do it. Perhaps the kids need help with homework that you can barely figure out and it’s making you feel stupid. It could be that you are having dinner alone again and you long for a meaningful relationship. Take action! Make a list and do something.

If that list is difficult here’s a start – do something for someone else. Take flowers to a friend, email someone to let them know you are thinking about them, hold the door open for people, just do something for someone else and be a blessing – because you are a blessing! When you take time to focus your attention on a few moments of happiness, even for someone else, it can renew your energy. Your problems might not disappear overnight, but for a moment you let someone else escape theirs and probably forgot about yours for a second, too! ~trvw

Your Next 24 Hours Matter

When an email came to my inbox about a chance to be part of a launch team for a book about kindness, it had my attention. This wasn’t something that I had been a part of before, but an opportunity to read a book than can change myself and others – for the better – as a result of kindness seemed worth a response. So far it has been easy to read and provides actionable suggestions at the end of each chapter. If you’re ready to up your kindness game, here’s a link to Your Next 24 Hours. It might be a refresher or something brand new for your eyes to see; either way, its timing couldn’t be better with the massive need for compassion in the world we are immersed in right now.

My plan is to update you as I read, as well as get some insight from other readers and share what they are learning from the book. Resources fill bookshelves and blogs about how to get ahead in life. If we succeed and have no one to share the glory with then what’s it all for? We only have today to make each moment as great as we possibly can for someone else.  ~trvw

Dear You,

Hello! Hopefully you’re having a great week. If so, great! I hope it keeps getting better. If it’s lacking, I hope it only gets better from here. Either way, you’re doing wonderful. Life is tough but you’re tougher. While it’s tempting to scribble sentences of fluffy, sunshiney words, the truth is there are days, weeks, months, or even years, where it can feel like the world is a war zone. Hold your head high, put your shoulders back, stand tall and know you are a person deserving of happiness. You will be better with battle scars!

Take care,

Strive To Be Better

Most people want more from life. Many get an education, work hard, grow a family and hope happiness is the end result. Challenges arise every step of the way. College debt, long hours, and sick kids are just a few of the hurdles that pop up on the road to a blissful life. Of all of the life skills we are taught, some of the most important things are dismissed simply because the people who we expect to teach these lessons are trying to figure them out for themselves. Somehow it became expected that the grown-up had the answers to everything for everyone. They might have been playing it by ear because most adults, or the wiser elders that are honest, have candidly revealed that they don’t know the secret to having it all. Perhaps that’s because having it all is a different portrait for every individual. What makes my mosaic perfection might be a muddled mess to you and vice versa.

Whatever your ideal image of a great life is, there is the need to know the reality of perfection is better suited as simply a guideline that has permission to change. Be sincere with knowing that it is ok to own perfection on a difference scale than another person. Even more important, strive for progress, not perfection. ~trvw

Overuse Abuse

Research has reported that both our minds and bodies will succumb to atrophy if neglected. While it’s a terrifying thought to consider such evidence, there are still people who prefer the couch cushion to a bicycle seat and many that click the remote control to watch the T.V. instead of an ink pen to write a letter. It seems that we might have an overuse injury.

If you’re familiar with fitness jargon, you’ve probably heard about an overuse injury. These occur as a result from a repeated action. Modernization has allowed us to move less with button clicks and made it easier to neglect our noggins. Society is overusing the luxuries and it seems to be causing setbacks in our well-being.

The great news is that the remedy is simple and fast acting. A walk to the mailbox and a word puzzle are easy starts to putting your body and mind in motion. While you might not see the results right away the advantages are happening behind the scenes.
